December in Prague

Magical.  The word that comes to mind when I think about our time in Prague.  We decided to visit in December to experience Christmas time in Europe and the Markets.  I am so happy we did, I close my eyes and smell the mulled wine and see the lights twinkling.  I also feel like I fell in deeper love with my other half if that is possible.

We rented an apartment in city center, outside of the typical tourist area, this allowed us to live like locals.  I was instantly smitten with the environment, the free way in which people seemed to live and the culture presented.  I was impressed by the languages, the many languages spoken by everyone we encountered.  The loveliest part was the holiday markets where shopping was not the priority, fellowship with one another was the most important, the sense of enjoyment and wonderment of the season.

Should your travels take you to Prague, exploration of the winding cobblestone streets with expose you to some of the most beautiful churches in the world.  In the main square you will see the Astronomical Clock and around another corner you will happen upon the Charles Bridge, truly breathtaking, take your time, soak it all in.  Our days were filled with sights and our evenings filled with emotion as we listened to live classical music played in intimate settings in majestic cathedrals.

The trip was not without a ton of food and wine, inside and outside, loved sipping wine under a heater with a blanket on my legs enjoying the scenery and people watching.  We even found a Hooters one day, too funny, yes, we ate there, had too!  My one obsession was trdelnik, I cannot provide any adequate explanation of this sweet bread rolled on metal spindles over a fire, just delicious!  Admittedly, I became slightly obsessed (with some warm chocolate).

What a wonderful time we had and a wonderful time of the year to visit.  Magical…

Vychutnejte si bezpečné cestování!
